Starts: February 1, 2014 at 10:00 am
Ends: February 1, 2014 at 12:00 pm

Curious about Al Jazeera America? Come to a Q&A panel with three Al Jazeera producers, Feb. 1 at Quinnipiac University.

Panelists include:

  • Jason Driscoll, line producer
  • Madeline Finkel, prompter operator
  • Nick Monte, line producer

Al Jazeera America bought Al Gore’s Current TV in early 2013. Click here to read a New York Times article on Al Jazeera America’s cable launch this past summer.

Al Jazeera’s move into American cable is controversial, because of the company’s funding by the Qatar government and its early ties to al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood, according to this Newsweek piece.

Still, Al Jazeera English has covered world issues, and has won several awards, including a 2011 Columbia Journalism Award and a 2012 George Foster Peabody Award. Al Jazeera lists dozens of other awards on its website.

The event will give Connecticut journalists a forum to ask questions and draw their own conclusions.
