The Connecticut SPJ Excellence in Journalism dinner will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Memories at the Tradition in Wallingford. (This is the same location as last year, only with a new name.)
The CTSPJ board announces winners of the 2015 Excellence in Journalism Contest (Click here to download a PDF list of all entrants), as well as the recipients of the board’s annual scholarship, at the dinner. The board also inducts new members into the Connecticut Journalism Hall of Fame and honors those who have fought for open government during the event.
The dinner is the largest gathering of journalists in Connecticut each year.
Money raised from the annual Excellence in Journalism Contest supports various journalistic causes throughout the state each year, including the Connecticut Council for Freedom of Information, Connecticut Foundation for Open Government, student SPJ chapters, SPJ’s Legal Defense Fund, the SPJ Region 1 fund and CTSPJ scholarships. The money also funds administrative costs of the contest and the Connecticut Pro Chapter of SPJ.
Contest entries are typically accepted from late December through mid February.
