Covering Utility Companies

Starts: February 23, 2012 at 9:00 am
Ends: February 23, 2012 at 12:00 pm

With shrinking newsroom resources, covering large-scale power outages is becoming an “all hands on deck affair” for all of Connecticut’s media outlets.

Learn what you need to know before the storm hits by attending a Feb. 23rd training event, jointly sponsored by the Connecticut Pro Chapter of Society of Professional Journalists and Connecticut Light & Power.

The event will be held at CL&P’s emergency operations center in Berlin from 9 a.m. to noon. It will offer reporters a firsthand look at what goes on as the state’s largest utility prepares for storms, as well a primer on how the electrical system works.
Admission is free. For more details on the program or to reserve a seat, contact CT SPJ board member Luther Turmelle at 203-789-5706 or e-mail him at lturmelle@nhregister.com
