Starts: March 12, 2012 at 8:30 pm
Ends: March 12, 2012 at 10:00 pm

David Carr, author of “The Media Equation” column in TheNew York Times, has been writing about the news media for 25 years.

On Monday, March 12, at 8:30 p.m., he will speak about his career at SUNY Stony Brook in New York. The lecture will be held at Javits Lecture Center, Room 100, and is free and open to the public.

Carr began his career in the ’80s as a promising reporter but soon became plagued by an addiction to drugs. He dissected his own difficult history in his 2008 memoir The Night of the Gun: A Reporter Investigates the Darkest Story of His Life. His Own.

Last year, Carr had a central role in the documentary Page One, a revealing inside look at The New York Times.
