Freelancer Forum Oct. 9

Starts: October 9, 2013 at 7:00 pm
Ends: October 9, 2013 at 9:00 pm

Whether you’re a freelance writer, designer, photographer, copy editor or editor, please join us at the Freelancers Forum on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at McGovern Hall on the University of St. Joseph campus, West Hartford.  We are meeting in the evening to accommodate those with day jobs.

This group is open to all freelancers. We’ll talk about finding work, branding, marketing ourselves, social media and diversification. We share our collective wisdom, so bring your challenges. We operate under the philosophy that many minds are better than one. And, while there’s no obligation, freelancers try to help other freelancers by referring them to editors and clients. So bring business cards.

Please send a prioritized list of topics you’d like to cover and RSVP by Oct. 7, and we’ll try to address everyone’s concerns. Email Theresa@TheresaSullivanBarger.com  Editors looking for freelance writers, designers, photographers or copy editors are welcome. (I’ve already heard from one editor looking for writers.)

Freelancers Forum is organized by freelance writers Len Felson and Theresa Sullivan Barger through the American Society of Journalists & Authors Educational Foundation. Meetings are free. Feel free to invite other freelancers.

We will be meeting in the faculty dining room in McGovern Hall on the University of St. Joseph campus, located between Asylum and Albany avenues just west of the Hartford border. (Formerly St. Joseph College.) Every classroom is booked, so please allow time to park and walk. Park in the lot near the O’Connell Athletic Center and walk across the parking lot to the sidewalk, which leads to McGovern Hall. Enter through the  front door and walk straight ahead, passing Campus Safety as you head down the hall to the faculty dining room on left.
